Yates Elementary School receives health inspection Nov. 1
Yates Elementary School received one corrected-during-inspection and two non-critical violations during a routine Virginia Department of Health inspection Nov. 1.
The critical corrected-during-inspection violation was: "Critical employee failed to wash hands prior to donning gloves.".
The non-critical, corrected violations were: "There is no covered refuse container for the disposal of feminine napkins in the ladies' room stall" and "The floor of the store room needs cleaning under the shelving.".
Inspections are scheduled to take place one to four times per year depending on variables such as menu complexity, how much food is made in advance versus cooked-to-order, and how much food is made from raw products, according to the Virginia Department of Health website. Critical violations, if left uncorrected, are more likely than other violations to directly contribute to food contamination, environmental degradation or illness. Non-critical violations are not directly related to causing food-borne illness.
This information was obtained from inspection reports from the Virginia Department of Health. To read the reports in full, go to www.vdh.state.va.us and select "Restaurant Inspections" in the Quick Links section, then the desired city. Enter the restaurant's name in the search field.
Yates Elementary School is at 73 Maxwell Lane, Newport News.
