Amy's Dance Studio Announces New and Improved Ballroom Dance Studio

Amy's Dance Studio has announced that a new and improved ballroom studio will be completed in early October. Located in the Hidenwood area of Newport News, at 51 Hidenwood Shopping Center, the new location will feature three ballrooms.

Amy Hontos, owner and instructor at Amy’s Dance Studio, has wanted to expand for a long time, and the recent expansion will better serve her students, giving them the best environment for dance education and experience.

“Dancing is a historical tradition as well as an outlet for creative expression. Ballroom dancing is a great workout for the body as well as the mind, and who doesn’t want to dance like the stars?” said Amy Hontos, owner and teacher of Amy Dance Studio.

The new ballroom studio is equipped with an elegant banquet facility that can accommodate up to 250 people and can be catered by an outside company. Amy’s Dance Studio will also be providing wedding choreography for the bride and groom as well as the wedding party.

Additionally, the new location will provide one large ballroom and two smaller ballrooms that can hold many more dancers. Instructors will be able to fully share their knowledge and expertise in ballroom dancing with people who are interested in learning. Many of the instructors at Amy’s Dance Studio attended the prestigious Peninsula Ballroom Teachers Academy, a licensure school for ballroom teachers. All teachers at Amy’s Dance Studio are licensed ballroom dance instructors.  Amy’s is also hosting a half semester syllabus of the Peninsula Ballroom Teachers Academy this Fall 2011, which includes the Cha Cha and Rumba, for those who would like to get licensed to teach.  The studio will start offering more semesters in January after the holidays.
